United under the rainbow — Reykjavík Pride Parade

From the Reykjavík Pride Parade

The 2026 Reykjavík Pride Parade takes place on Saturday, Aug. 9. The parade will depart from Hallgrímskirkja church at 2pm sharp.

In the parade, lesbians, gay men, bisexual and pansexual people, transgender people, intersex people, and other LGBT+ individuals join their families and friends to assert their presence and highlight their causes. The parade serves as both a demonstration by LGBT+ people calling for equality, awareness, and an end to discrimination, and as a platform to celebrate the achievements made in the struggle.

The Reykjavík Pride Parade, the highlight of Reykjavík Pride, takes place in the city center every year, and Reykjavík City is a proud sponsor of Reykjavík Pride.

The route runs from Hallgrímskirkja down Skólavörðustígur, Bankastræti, Lækjargata, and Fríkirkjuvegur. While the official parade route concludes at the intersection of Fríkirkjuvegur and Skothúsvegur, participants will proceed onto Sóleyjargata and into Hljómskálagarður park for the start of the outdoor concerts. Adjacent streets will be closed for the duration of the parade.
